Farm Stand

Our farmstand is open for business.   Located in a new building it incorporates several farm functions and many passive solar elements.

The first floor houses the farmstand, a cheese-making room and a commercial kitchen as well as access to our lean-to greenhouse where we extend our growing season and harvest loads of solar heating.

Upstairs are the farm office and a large 24 x 30 community room. A great room, spacious and well-lit, is a great spot for musical events, contra dances, workshops and parties.

The cellar houses a cheese cave, a three zone root cellar and meat locker and a workshop.

The construction was funded, in part, by a Conservation Innovation Grant through the NRCS and USDA.  Targeted at farm sustainability, the project made possible biomass heating for the farm, charcoal or biochar production for soil fertility and nutrient management as well as electricity production.

While the entire project isn’t completely finished, we are well on our way to completion.
